Description: |
Many churches are finding it difficult to reach young adults. Our definition of young adults includes persons between the ages of 18 and 40. For the most part, this age group is not actively involved in mainline congregations. This video explores some of the reasons why young adults seek spiritual fulfillment in places outside of the church. This resource has been designed to provide a few basic tools needed to help pastors, Christian educators, governing body staff, worship committees, sessions, and young adult leaders better understand the unique interests and characteristics of this gifted generation. While young adults of all races share many common experiences, this video intentionally focuses on the challenges of building relationships between African American young adults and members of the African American congregations. We do not in any way feature the congregations and pastors in this video as the standard ministry or as models that other churches should try to duplicate. Each congregation is unique, and the church's leadership must determine the congregation's abilities and establish its own criteria to evaluate and measure the success of any new ministry. |
