Description: | In this 6 session Bible study author Ann Voskamp takes us on a personal journey along the broken way. The broken way beckons you into more time, more meaning, more authentic relationships. There's a way, especially when things aren't shaping up quite like you imagined, that makes life take the shape of more --more abundance, more intimacy, more God. The six lessons are 1) How Do We Live This One Broken Life? Why are we afraid of broken things: of suffering? This is where we can find God and God's companionship. 2)Living Cruciform - Our "cracks" are openings for God's love to come in. Anxiety makes us bear pain all by ourselves, but if we reach out to others they will help us bear our burdens, just as God will help us if we reach out to Him. 3) Learning To Receive - Grace received will lead to transformation. Nothing can break you like self doubt and self lies. Letting yourself be loved is an act of terrifying vulnerability and surrender. 4) Real Koinonia - "If Only.." two of the saddest words. In Christ we are not destined for bitter regret. Using images from "The Velveteen Rabbit," real living can sometimes feel like dying. But nothing can separate us from God's love. 5) Embracing Inconvenience - There is no one that hasn't been cut by pain and that doesn't have hidden wounds. Love is the willingness to be inconvenience d and interrupted. Dysfunction happens when we do not acknowledge brokenness and do not allow Jesus' good brokenness to heal our bad brokenness. 6) Who We Serve - When faith loses compassion it is dead. People don't need to be good to deserve our compassion. Speaking about the personal pain of her son's diabetes diagnosis, Voskamp shares that there are not enough barriers in the whole world to keep pain and brokenness out of your life. Don't fear broken things, for they can lead to a more abundant life. The Study Guide is 130.5400-1 |
